Hinreichend verdächtig / Live-Podcast / ZOON PODCAST WEEK

This podcast is about real criminal cases from the region—but it’s not just about that. In *Hinreichend verdächtig* (Sufficiently Suspicious), the true-crime podcast from the *Rheinische Post* and the Duisburg District Attorney’s Office, we examine crimes from more than one perspective. In each episode, a court reporter and a representative from the Duisburg District Attorney’s Office discuss a case: What happened? How did the investigation unfold? How did the case develop? And how did it lead to an indictment?
It’s not just about the verdict itself. Public perception of the case and the laws behind it also play a role. We learn more about the work of the authorities, the court proceedings, and how the German legal system works.

Topic of this live episode: “Because We Were Believed” – How Strong Support Networks Can Protect Women from Violence

‍

This episode is about a woman who, together with her daughters, was able to escape an abusive relationship and thus restore hope to her own life and that of her daughters. When her ex-partner severely assaulted her in public, passersby came to her aid; in the subsequent proceedings, various support systems—such as anonymous women’s shelters and the justice system—worked tirelessly to provide the woman and her daughters with a way out of this situation. We’ll discuss these support systems, how to help people in such situations, and the legal consequences the attack will have for the ex-partner.
