Iggy Mayerov is a six-piece indie pop band from the Czech Republic that blends dreamy nostalgia, shimmering guitar tones, synthesizer textures, and driving drum machine beats with emotionally honest songwriting. Led by singer and guitarist Tereza Pilařová, along with Michal Pilař (guitar), Jakub Pilař (bass), Martin Griner (keyboards, synthesizer), Alžběta Kuklová (backing vocals), and Jiří Hájek (guitar), the band creates atmospheric songs that explore memory, loss, and the transience of human experiences while remaining irresistibly melodic.
Since their breakthrough with the debut single “Ride” in 2019, Iggy Mayerov have become a fixture on the Czech and Slovak alternative music scene and are regularly played on Radio 1, Radio Wave, Expres FM, Rádio Slovensko, and Rádio_FM. They have performed throughout the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, and the United States, including at the New Colossus Festival in New York. The band has also been selected to open for renowned international artists such as Bôa, Prewn, and Dream, Ivory.
Their debut album “Millennial Cliché” (2022) brought them wider recognition; the title track was named one of the best Czech pop songs of the year by Expres FM. Later, they collaborated with Anděl Award-winning producer and artist Lazer Viking on the EP “Lovesick,” whose standout single “Givin’ You Up” garnered more than 200,000 views on YouTube.
Marjari’smusic is characterized by complex guitar sequences recorded with a looper, interwoven with samples and crowned by her delicate, crystal-clear voice. Her debut album “Hey Girl,” released in 2022, followed the 2021 EP “Let’s Ride.” Since then, she has performed extensively with her band, solidifying her growing popularity, as evidenced by her victory on Radio Wave’s “Starter” chart. On “Hey Girl,” as in her earlier works, Marjari draws deeply from her personal experiences, emotions, and relationships—both platonic and romantic. The album’s intimate tracks explore a wide emotional spectrum, shifting between tenderness, romance, melancholy, and raw intensity, all united by her distinctive songwriting and enchanting vocals.
Her victory opened the door to performances at clubs and festivals in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Hungary, and France, as well as appearances at major Czech festivals. In 2023, Marjari released the single “Only a Dream,” which reached No. 3 on the Czech-Slovak chart “Velká Sedma.”
Marjari continues to thrill audiences with her live performances, whether solo or with her backing band, which includes drummer Petr Herman and bassist and synthesizer player Martin Urianek. Marjari is currently working on her next album, which is scheduled for release in the fall of 2025.
