The lives of four girls and women from different eras are eerily interwoven. Alma, Erika, Angelika and Nelly live on the same farm in Saxony-Anhalt between the 1910s and the 2020s. As they wander through their own present, traces of the past reveal themselves to them - unspoken fears, repressed traumas, buried secrets.
Mascha Schilinski has created a special film, both in terms of content and form, which delves deep into the subtlest ramifications of the girls' and women's emotional worlds and the realities of their lives. Using a wide range of stylistic means, she switches between time levels, intimate and abstract moments, electronizing sound design and visually stunning cinema. IN DIE SONNE SCHAUEN is also aimed at our present and our acutely changing experience of history. A film that drills deep into our perception in its very own way.
