In the gloomy late fall month of November, when the sun makes itself scarce and a dense cloud cover shrouds the sky, one often longs for warmer, sunnier climes. We bring such a country to Dresden with a weekend of Indian culture. The event is dedicated to India's Children's Day, which is celebrated every year on November 14 - the birthday of the first Prime Minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru, affectionately known as "Uncle Nehru".
From 4 pm, we will be offering workshops on traditional Sanjhi scatter painting, Indian music and North Indian temple cuisine, among other things, combined with insights into the country's culture, history and way of life. For children, there will be traditional Indian games as well as Indian folk tales and stories. At 7 p.m. there will be a reception with Indian tea and snacks, followed by a slide show from 8 p.m. to round off the day.
