GLÄUBIG. ANTIFEMINISTISCH. EXTREM RECHTS.

Christian Fundamentalism and the Far Right in the U.S. and Germany—A panel discussion organized by the “What the Fuck?!” Alliance in Berlin, featuring Lina Dahm and Annika Brockschmidt

Christian fundamentalist movements are gaining influence worldwide. They openly advocate anti-democratic positions, attack feminist achievements, and oppose queer rights. Transnationally, they are closely networked, strategically organized, and well-funded. Their alliance with right-wing populist and far-right actors is no coincidence: it is politically deliberate and manifests itself in joint campaigns, personal connections, and similar rhetoric.Together with experts Lina Dahm and Annika Brockschmidt, we aim to understand the connection between Christian fundamentalism and the far right. What links exist between the U.S. and Germany? What impact do the international networks of anti-abortion activists have on democracy and society? And which counterstrategies are effective? We at the “What-the-Fuck!?” coalition have been protesting for years against the so-called “March for Life” in Berlin, where Christian fundamentalists, ultra-conservative church representatives, and the far right demonstrate together against the right to abortion. Their core demand: a total ban on abortion—in other words, forcing women to carry a pregnancy to term.Lina Dahm is a freelance journalist and expert on anti-feminist movements in German-speaking countries.Annika Brockschmidt is a journalist, author, podcaster, and expert on the Christian right in the U.S. Come join us, bring your friends, discuss these issues with us, and let’s develop counter-strategies together! We look forward to an informative and solidarity-filled evening!
