ANNOUNCEMENT
Friday, December 6, starting at 6 p.m.
Whether public, private or digital, spaces are places of social encounter and exchange. The shape of a space is essentially shaped by the interaction of people, so that spaces are not static but relational: They only develop their function and meaning in interaction with their actors. In this way, bodies and identities become organizing principles that structure spaces and decide who can move and develop in which space and in what way.
With our event *innenRaum, we want to draw attention to the social and structural injustices that permeate spaces. Discrimination such as gender inequality, racism, ableism and queer hostility shape the architectural design and individual perception of spaces and often result in unequal access to and use of public, private and digital spaces. The question of inclusion and exclusion is therefore at the heart of every spatial concept.
At the same time, the relationality of spaces harbors great potential for restructuring and transformation: the creation of physical and non-physical "safe spaces" and subcultural places shows that spaces can be rethought and designed more equitably
The exhibition *innenRaum focuses on this potential to create spaces more equitably through safe spaces and subcultural places. Art, workshops and lectures will critically examine these perspectives from a queer-feminist point of view. The detailed program and the participating artists & actors will be announced soon.
Unfairblümt e.V. is a queer-feminist association that campaigns for gender equality and LGBTQ* rights.
