Jakob Dreyer Quartet
In the organizer's words:
In 2014, German bassist Jakob Dreyer headed to the Mecca of jazz: New York. Even though they weren’t exactly waiting for him there—the man from the Old World quickly made a name for himself in the New World. The stature he has since achieved in the Big Apple is evident from the lineup of his quartet, with which he will present the music from the album *Roots and Things* at the Unterfahrt. His group is one of the leading bands. Guitarist Mike Moreno and drummer Kenn Salters have already caused quite a stir on the New York scene with their own projects. The band is rounded out by German-Icelandic saxophonist Stefan Karl Schmid
Together with these three, Jakob Dreyer plays music that swings and grooves as boldly as it is irresistibly. But he and his companions also savor the quiet, rich atmosphere of ballads.
A native of Lüneburg, Jakob Dreyer once won the soloist prize at the Jugend Jazzt competition and received his basic jazz training at the BuJazzO. After completing his studies in Hamburg, he crossed the Atlantic and fulfilled many of his musical dreams in New York. There, he is a sought-after sideman, but also a bandleader who has released three albums of his own to date.
