The Lisa Wulff Quartet plays contemporary jazz in a classical quartet line-up. With saxophonist Adrian Hanack, drummer Silvan Strauß and pianist Frank Chastenier, the bassist and bandleader has put together a colorful quartet of headstrong musicians who give her compositions the right colors. Since 2014, the three musicians (Adrian Hanack, Silvan Strauß and Lisa Wulff) have been continuously working on developing their sound together, experimenting and constantly embarking on new paths and adventures. With his experience and unique playing, Frank Chastenier adds a fascinating new facet that lifts the band's sound into new spheres.

From groove and swing to free, sound-painting improvisations or classical works, everything is possible with Lisa Wulff's compositions.

Together with drummer Silvan Strauß, who is no longer an unknown as a sideman (e.g. Nils Landgren, Maria Joao) and bandleader (Toy Toy), pianist Frank Chastenier, who has won numerous prizes as a soloist, was a member of the WDR
Bigband for 25 years and played with greats such as Ray Brown, and saxophonist Adrian Hanack (Meute, we don't suck we blow, among others), who always provides surprises, from avant-garde solos to imaginatively airy ballad interpretations, bassist Lisa Wulff forms a strong unit with her warm double bass and soprano bass sound, rousing grooves and lyrical solos.

Born in Hamburg, she studied bass with Detlev Beier and Lucas Lindholm at the Musikhochschule Bremen and Hamburg. In 2016, she and her quartet won the Jazz Baltica Award and released their first album "Encounters", which was immediately nominated for the ECHO Jazz Award. The band's latest album - "wondrous strange" - was released by LAIKA Records in 2018. In 2019, Lisa Wulff was awarded the Hamburg Jazz Prize for her musical work and commitment to the Hamburg jazz scene, and in 2023 she received the German Jazz Prize in the national bass category.

In addition to her own bands and projects, Lisa Wulff can regularly be heard on electric bass and double bass with the NDR Bigband and tours nationally and internationally with artists such as Nils Landgren, Christof Lauer, Rolf Kühn, Hans Lüdemann and Caecilie Norby.
