Jazzkonzert | | Rumpistol Ensemble (DK) |

In the organizer's words:

“Rum” is Danish for “room,” “chamber,” or “hall.”

The Rumpistol Ensemble navigates a fascinating intersection of ambient music, jazz, and neoclassical influences. Its music is the result of Rumpistol’s more than twenty years of experience creating electronic ambient music for the inner world of thoughts and emotions. At the same time, it has been significantly influenced by feedback from people who use his music to cope with difficult life phases such as grief, anxiety, stress, or depression.
For his new compositions, Rumpistol collaborated with a team of outstanding instrumentalists. It was important to him that his audience could feel the human presence in the recordings. Lush string arrangements, fretless bass, hypnotic vocal passages, harp, alto flute, and guitars lend his expansive soundscapes a special intimacy and closeness.
At its core, Rumpistol unites the many facets of his artistic career—from his work with the band Kalaha to music for video games, dance, theater, and film scores—into a sound that deliberately defies any simple categorization.
During his concerts, Jens B. Christiansen also shares his personal journey through burnout and how he fought his way back into life and reality, step by step.

For the Danish composer Rumpistol, aka Jens B. Christiansen, the primary driving forces behind his music are the search for beauty and the search for new sounds. This sonic and aesthetic curiosity, which can be clearly traced back to his self-titled 2003 debut album—now regarded as a sort of IDM classic—has led him into many different realms of both electronic and acoustic music. Both his recordings and his live sets range from neoclassical piano pieces to atmospheric, bass-driven electronic music. His works are often difficult to categorize, but always rich in melody.
Rumpistol has presented his intricate sound in the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and Brazil, including at events and venues such as Boom Festival, Tipper & Friends, Boiler Room UK, and MUTEK Montreal.
In addition to his work under the name Rumpistol, he also composes music for film, theater, and contemporary dance.
His music was featured at the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. In 2017, he won a Danish Music Award in the jazz category for the album *Masala* with his band Kalaha.
