On September 1, starting at 10 a.m., the annual Jazzorama Soccer Cup will take place at the legendary Arno Lorenzen Stadium! Everyone is cordially invited to come watch and to join us in the evening at the artheater for the awards ceremony and a concert by Brazilian Motions.

With his band project “Brazilian Motions,” Matthias Schriefl brings his original compositions—in a variety of Brazilian styles such as bossa, samba, choro, baião, frevo, valsa, maxixe, and more—to life, making them ring out and swing.

The repertoire includes Schriefl’s new pieces in these styles, as well as works by Hermeto Pascoal and Pixinguinha.

Some of the melodies are so simple that they invite you to sing along. Other tracks, on the other hand, have such a serious, intimate atmosphere that you just want to listen intently with your eyes closed. The songs’ sensitive mood is enhanced by personal dedications, as well as by the clear musical expression of familiar emotions: love, loneliness, happiness, sadness, and the joy of life. Drummer João Raineri, originally from São Paulo, always knows how to find the right groove for each piece and interacts with the themes and fiery solos with great enthusiasm. He harmonizes perfectly with the enthusiasm of guitarist Bjarne Sitzmann, who hails from Oldenburg, and bassist Jan Blikslager from Cologne.

The band brings together three regions (São Paulo, Northern Germany, and the Allgäu), but shares a single mindset: plenty of charm, technical brilliance, and a genuine passion for music.

Open-air; if it rains, the concert will be held indoors
