"I'll be your mirror" is a lecture performance staged by Juliette Blightman in which different elements - philosophical reflections, humor and questions of gender politics - are juxtaposed through real-time film, sound and dance.
Juliette Blightman is a British artist who lives and works in London. Her practice encompasses painting, photography, film, drawing, performance, sound, installation and text, and is rooted in the poetics of the everyday. Blightman's works and exhibitions subtly interrogate the physical and mental spaces that social structures have created for the gendered subject. By refusing fixed formulas and using different media and strategies, Blightman not only reflects on contemporary existence and communication, but also questions how artworks can renegotiate art history and the canonical systems in place today.
The performance will be accompanied by the dancers Antonio Papazis and Ming-Hung Weng.
