Presented by steptext dance project
as part of the dance film week "I Want to be Moved by You"
Kathak is one of the classical dance forms of North India. The word Kathak is derived from "katha", which means "story". Traditionally rooted in storytelling, this dance form combines complex footwork, rhythmic patterns, turns, graceful and fluid body movements, and expressive gestures and facial expressions to convey narrative and emotion.
This introductory Kathak workshop offers participants an accessible introduction to the classical dance of North India. The event is aimed at beginners and focuses on rhythm (simple clapping patterns), basic movements and storytelling with expressive elements in an open atmosphere. The workshop encourages active participation, cultural exchange and shared learning. No previous dance experience is required.
The workshop is suitable for beginners.
