Event as part of German Wine Day

Celebrate German Wine Day on August 30, 2026, with a special journey through time into the world of the Celts. In the atmospheric setting of the Saarbrücken Castle Church, an extraordinary evening awaits you, uniquely combining archaeology, interactive history, and wine culture.
 

The highlight is an authentically staged Celtic symposium. Members of the “Projekt Latène” interest group, dressed in period costumes, will bring a historical drinking ritual to life and vividly illustrate the festive and banquet culture of the Celtic elite. Patrick Meyer, a history teacher and director of the “Projekt Latène” interest group, will guide you through the evening. With fascinating insights into the archaeological context, he will expertly contextualize the performance.

The program is complemented by an exclusive wine tasting hosted by WineFactory. Marcus Brunner, an engineer specializing in viticulture and oenology, will present a fine selection of regional wines, complemented by select imported wines, thereby building an enjoyable bridge between the drinking cultures of antiquity and the present day.

The event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Schlosskirche. The participation fee of 39 euros includes the wine tasting as well as bread and water.
