The new documentary film by Christiane Büchner opens the "Heimspiel" film series in the winter semester 2025/2026. The film is a tribute to the long-time film editor Werner Dütsch, who taught film history at the KHM from 1992 to 2012.
The documentary about the WDR film editor and KHM lecturer Werner Dütsch (1939-2018) celebrated its world premiere at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam. As film editor at WDR, Dütsch shaped several generations of cinephiles in Germany, starting in the 1970s. The documentary "Erzählungen eines Kinogehers" is based on an eight-hour interview that KHM graduate Christiane Büchner conducted with Dütsch in 2018, just a few months before his sudden death. The content ranges from his early film socialization in the film clubs and cinemas of the post-war period to his time at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, where he taught film history from 1992 to 2012.
