Kiefer is a central figure in Los Angeles' diverse independent music scene. His sound fuses different varieties of Black American music, from jazz and R&B to hip-hop and electronic music.

Kiefer grew up in San Diego, California and was introduced to jazz at a young age by his father, later experimenting with hip-hop inspired beats in high school. While studying jazz piano at UCLA, Kiefer got his education in beats by attending shows at Low End Theory and collaborating with other artists on the scene.

Hard-hitting beats, complex jazz voicings and soulful melodies all flowed into Kiefer's debut, "Kickinit Alone," which was released on Leaving Records in 2017. Shortly after, Kiefer signed with Stones Throw and released two LPs, Happysad (2018) and When There's Love Around (2021). His new album, titled It's Ok, B U, is available everywhere now.

Outside of his solo work, Kiefer has recorded with artists such as Drake, Kaytranada, Sir and Terrace Martin, and produced for Anderson .Paak on his Grammy-winning album Ventura.

Kiefer is a passionate optimist at his core, which is why his songs appeal to a wide range of emotions. His ethos is about feeling encouraged, empowered and full of gratitude, and he reminds listeners through his music that this is a beautiful life.
