KitKatClub - Kinks of Berlin

A cinematic encounter with a legendary place that has become, for many, a symbol of freedom and transformation. A documentary by Philipp Fussenegger. Now playing at Kino Zukunft.

Director Philipp Fussenegger and writer Susanne Heuer accompany regulars at Berlin’s iconic KitKatClub, who shift between their everyday lives and their nighttime personas—drag performers, BDSM couples, trailblazers, and seekers. They give them space to tell their stories, thereby offering an intimate glimpse into a world that usually eludes the camera. A documentary about the desire to be someone else for one night—and to find oneself precisely in that.

We follow Tim, alias Raven Van Krueger, as he tries to make it big as a drag artist. Elisa discovers a new sexuality with her friends; a BDSM couple makes love in public; a dog-play duo lives a life of stability and excess. David is trying to fight his way back from addiction, and club founder Simon seems like a relic from another era—just like many who once laid the foundation of the legendary KitKatClub.

Performances, struggles to reach consensus, tender conversations with fathers, encounters between bodies and souls. KITKATCLUB – KINKS OF BERLIN is a cinematic experience about freedom, intimacy, identity, sex, and unlearning shame—unvarnished and poetic at the same time.
