Klassik | Vocal Concert Dresden | J.S. Bach – Kantate BWV 135

Classical music characterizes the vespers in the Dresden Kreuzkirche on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 5:00 pm. Under the direction of Peter Kopp, the Vocal Concert Dresden, together with an instrumental ensemble and Kreuz organist Holger Gehring, will present a challenging program of sacred music. Kerstin Döring (alto), Stephan Scherpe (tenor) and Andreas Scheibner (bass) will perform the solo parts.

In addition to works by Homilius, Graun, Merkel and Burkhard, Johann Sebastian Bach's choral cantata "Ach Herr, mich armen Sünder" (BWV 135) will take center stage. This core work of baroque classical music impresses with its dense setting of repentance and consolation, in which Bach anchors the chorale melody fascinatingly deep in the bass of the choir. Afterwards, the Dresdner Turmbläser will play from the tower of the Kreuzkirche.
