Under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Cultural Institute Cologne presents the concert Neapolis 2500 by Ars Nova Napoli on the occasion of the 2500th anniversary of the founding of the city of Naples.
Ars Nova Napoli, one of the best-known and most popular bands on the Neapolitan nu-folk scene, is famous for its cross-genre style and the infectious energy of its performances. With a taste that defies many conventions, the band offers a reinterpretation of traditional southern Italian tunes, enriching them with their own compositions inspired by diverse Mediterranean influences. Their concerts, rich in harmonies, rhythm and mood, are real performances that entertain any audience, regardless of location and age, in the best possible way, also because the instrumental interplay is combined with an exuberant party groove.
In this extraordinary sextet, each musician contributes his own style and instrumental mastery to the ensemble's unmistakable sound: Marcello Squillante (vocals, accordion), Michelangelo Nusco (violin, trumpet, mandolin), Vincenzo Racioppi (mandolin, charango), Gianluca Fusco (vocals, guitar, accordion, gaita), Antonino Anastasia (frame drums) and Bruno Belardi (double bass). Together they create an authentic sound that is deeply rooted in the musical tradition of southern Italy.
