READING - 40 YEARS OF "FARBE BEKENNEN"
The publication of *FARBE BEKENNEN* in the fall of 1986 marked the beginning of a new phase in the Black movement in Germany. Together with other women, the editors and authors Katharina Oguntoye and May Ayim told the story of Black people—past and present—for the first time and challenged the image of Germany as a white nation. Black activist, scholar, and poet Audre Lorde, who lived and taught in Berlin on several occasions between 1984 and 1992, played a pivotal role in shaping this development. To mark the anniversary of *FARBE BEKENNEN*, eyewitness Abenaa Adomako will read from the book.
