Martin Hyun, born in Krefeld in 1979 and the son of Korean migrant workers, studied politics, international business and international relations in the USA, Belgium and Bonn. He was the first professional player of Korean descent in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and a junior national player in Germany. His publications include the book "Ohne Fleiß kein Reis. How I became a good German".
