Reality Bites: Life Unrehearsed

What do movies have to do with our lives? How do movies depict reality? And how do they shape our view of the world? At REALITY BITES , young film enthusiasts present their own selection of films and invite the filmmakers and the audience to discuss them. In July, REALITY BITES will host three events at Filmhaus Köln, selected and moderated by students from the University of Cologne.

We start with the film: Life Unrehearsed, on Monday, July 1st at 20:00 at Filmhaus Köln!

Life Unrehearsed - KOR/D 2022 - 80min - OmeU - Director: Banpark Jieun

Thirty-six years ago, Soohyun met In-sun at a meeting of a Korean Christian women's association in Germany and gave her flowers. Despite threats from her then husband and the disapproval of Korean society, In-sun and Soohyun found love for each other and decided to be together. Now the two, who came to Germany as nurses with no knowledge of the language, are still there and are already in their 70s. They have lived together in Berlin for 30 years and share all the joys and sorrows of life. Soohyun and In-sun have shown solidarity with other migrants and take care of each other. They are two people who have overcome many borders. This is their love story.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director Banpark Jieun (in English).
