Innovative ideas, new technologies, and strong brands are among the most important assets of a young company. Nevertheless, intellectual property issues are often not addressed until the first products are already on the market, investors are brought on board, or competitors emerge. Yet the course for success is often set much earlier.

This interactive workshop is aimed at founders, startups, and scale-ups who want to understand how patents, trademarks, and designs can be used to protect innovations and build sustainable competitive advantages. Using practical examples, participants will gain an overview of the various types of intellectual property rights and learn what role these can play in product development, market launch, financing, and business development.

The workshop will focus on questions such as: Which innovations can be patented? When should a trademark be registered? How important are designs for products and digital applications? What common mistakes should young companies avoid? And how can a well-thought-out IP strategy help create company value and win over investors?

The workshop begins with a brief welcome and introduction (approx. 15 minutes). This is followed by a presentation lasting about 90 minutes, with a short break of about 10 minutes, during which the basics of intellectual property law and practical recommendations for young companies will be covered.

The focus then shifts to personal interaction. After the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with the experts in attendance over drinks and light refreshments. Together, participants will discuss real-world case studies and address individual questions regarding patents, trademarks, designs, and innovation protection. The event thus offers not only valuable information but also the opportunity to engage directly with experts and other founders.
