Matinee "Freedom of expression and the media"

A morning for discussions and new food for thought

A matinee on the "Post it" project will take place at the Museum of Communication on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will focus on the development of freedom of expression and the role of the media in various historical and social contexts.

Program

Welcome: Anja Schaluschke, Director of the Museum of Communication, will open the event with a welcoming address.

Reading: Steffen Schroeder, actor, writer and member of the mabb Media Council, reads from the diary of resistance fighter Ruth Andreas-Friedrich.

Background discussion: Dr. Eva Flecken, Director of the Berlin-Brandenburg Media Authority, and Dr. Hildegard Kronawitter, Chairwoman of the Weiße Rose Stiftung e.V., discuss with presenter and journalist Katja Weber. Stefan Roloff, painter, video artist and filmmaker, will shed light on the activities of the resistance group "Rote Kapelle" in 1943. Tina Krone, former head of the archive of the GDR opposition, will report on the pirate radio station "Schwarzer Kanal" and its work in 1986. The role of hashtags as a modern tool for expressing opinions in 2021 will also be discussed.
