Michael, Salomea & Askari
In the organizer's words:
Vocals, guitar, bass—a lineup as minimalist as it gets, and that’s precisely what makes it so appealing. Emmanuel Michael lives in New York, where he is one of the most sought-after guitarists of his generation, having performed with artists such as Ambrose Akinmusire and Marcus Gilmore. In Cologne, he joins forces with two musicians who have been shaping the local scene for years: Rebekka Salomea, whose voice moves effortlessly between jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and free improvisation, and Reza Askari, one of the most distinctive bassists in the modern creative jazz scene.
What unites the three is a shared approach: a willingness to let music emerge in the moment and to listen to one another in the process. The foyer of the Museum of East Asian Art provides a space that invites both concentration and openness.
