MicroPopWeek: Me and my two Horses

We are delighted to be part of this year's MicroPopWeek! On October 7, ME AND MY TWO HORSES from HAMBURG will be playing for us. As always, admission is just a smile and donations for the artist are welcome.

Me And My Two Horses is the best-kept secret in Hamburg, a city of culture that likes to call itself that. And has been for some time. For over twelve years, the musician, whose real name is Kristin Theresa Drechsler, has been writing her sometimes nasty, sometimes inviting, always cathartic songs in her own way, which don't want to please anyone - and yet leave everyone who opens up to them changed.

Anyone who enjoys a Me-And-My-Two-Horses concert quickly falls into superlatives afterwards. They tell of the tears that suddenly come to the surface when listening to these songs, of the amazement at a voice that sometimes floats light as a feather on the ceiling of the sound space, only to make the bone marrow vibrate in the deepest commanding tone the next moment. And then there is the sheer variety that is musically presented on stage: martial drums, piano ballads with drone metal guitars, sacred organ pieces with electronic beats, laments carried by pulsating synthesizers. And sometimes accordion, omnichord or an old Magnus Chord Organ can also be heard.

Six years after the release of their debut album "No Man's Land" (which in a just world would be considered a new standard work of sophisticated pop music), Me And My Two Horses are releasing eight new wondrous songs in September 2025. "And the people - ah, the people -" is the name of their second album, again recorded, mixed and mastered entirely on their own in the rehearsal room. It will be released on the legendary Hamburg underground label Fidel Bastro - a worthy home for the intangible sound art of Kristin Theresa Drechsler.

MicroPopWeek is the DIY festival of Düsseldorf's OFF culture scene.

Since 2014, players from the local independent music, art and literature scene have been organizing countless concerts, readings, exhibitions, cinema evenings and workshops - in large halls and tiny spaces, with established artists and up-and-coming acts, hosted by experienced initiators and dedicated first-time organizers. And everyone is invited to take part.
