Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Aretha Franklin and recently millennial jazz star Laufey - they all sang "Misty". But the composer of this standard has been somewhat forgotten, even though Erroll Garner was considered the most successful African-American jazz pianist in the 50s and 60s. Georges Gachot's documentary combines archive material with interviews with musical companions, his manager and his last companion. Scenes with Garner's daughter, whom he never acknowledged, are particularly moving.
