Puppets—Chatting—Experimenting: The GFP Invites You to the Table“
” Lecture and Discussion

Puppet and figure theater is performed all over the world. Almost every culture has some form of animation involving puppets or objects, sometimes in an artistic context, sometimes in a ritual one. This makes it all the more interesting for performers to meet colleagues from other countries and exchange ideas. This often happens at international festivals. That’s why Wunder. 2026 is specifically inviting participants to the GFP discussion format “Puppets – Chatting – Experimenting” for a shared exchange, in a breakfast setting with coffee and pretzels: GFP Executive Director Thomas Stumpp, who has worked for many years at the Goethe-Institut as an expert in puppet and figure theater, will share anecdotes about how the international scene and funding programs work, and how certain hurdles and pitfalls sometimes need to be navigated. Feel free to share your own stories! Everyone interested in puppetry—professional performers and amateur puppeteers alike—is invited.
