Great Britain/Italy 2013, directed by Uberto Pasolini
John May is an employee of the City of London. His job is to take care of the funerals of the lonely deceased. He performs this task with great care and dedication. Not only is he usually the only mourner, he has also written the eulogy that the priest delivers. In the evenings, he carefully sticks pictures of the deceased in his private album in his lonely apartment. Mr. May works too slowly for his boss. As a result, his job is abolished and he himself is dismissed. However, he is still allowed to work on his last case: William Stoke, known as Billy. Using found objects from Stoke's apartment, Mr. May is able to track down Stoke's lover Mary, their daughter and another daughter. Mr. May has also found veterans of Stoke's deployment to the Falkland Islands, work colleagues, homeless people and sports fans.
Tragically, Mr. May is killed in a bus accident. He is buried at the same time as his last "client" William Stoke. But while all the people who had found Mr. May gather at his funeral, no one stands at his grave - until the ghosts of all his funeral clients come to his grave.
