Musethica-Konzert mit “singendem Streichquartett”: Am 12.11.2024 im Ballhaus Wedding - Eintritt frei

Musethica will be a guest at Ballhaus Wedding for the first time: on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Orbis Quartetwill play a public concert at the historic venue, which has been in existence for 135 years and therefore has traces of different eras. The concert will take place as part of the Musethica session, which runs from November 7 to 15.

One of the Orbis Quartet's declared aims is to make music accessible to a wide audience. Musethica is supporting them in this: this week, the four young musicians will be visiting social institutions in Berlin, including a shared accommodation facility for refugees, the Vivantes Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy & Psychosomatics as well as the juvenile detention center and schools in various Berlin districts. The public concerts also take place in barrier-free locations that bring together different social groups.

The Musethica concert week is led by violinist and violist Gregor Sigl. He began studying at the Mozarteum Music Academy in Salzburg at the age of ten and was accepted into the international master class of Latvian violinist Philippe Hirshhorn at the Utrecht Conservatory at the age of seventeen. As a soloist and member of the Artemis Quartet, he has performed in all major music centers worldwide and is a regular guest at international music festivals. He has been a professor of chamber music at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) since 2007.

Admission to the concert is free of charge. A donation is appreciated.
Admission begins at 18:45, the concert starts at 19:30. The number of seats is limited, so please arrive early.

About the quartet:
The Orbis Quartet was founded in 2014. In the same year, the young string quartet won 1st prize and the special prize at the International Beethoven Competition in Krakow. The quartet has also performed at renowned classical music festivals such as the Tyrolean Festival Erl, the Salzburg Chamber Music Festival, the Brandenburg Summer Concerts and the Montreal Chamber Music Festival. However, the four musicians not only perform on classical concert stages, but also make music in bars and clubs and take part in educational projects such as the Berlin Children's Philharmonic Orchestra.
