NADJA ABT - OBSESSION

Exhibition Kunst Feminismus Zeitgenössisch
In the organizer's words:

In her first institutional solo exhibition, Nadja Abt critically examines obsessions, the way they are still often considered an almost pathological prerequisite for creating art, and the way they are profitably marketed. With painting, text, objects and a performance, she stages a reflection on the conditions of art-making at the Dortmunder Kunstverein: on the conscious experience, construction and description of the creative and thought processes as an artist and their transfer into a form of feminist-autofictional narrative.

For the exhibition Obsession , three groups of works were created in which Abt reveals her passion for literature, film, advertising graphics, consumption and the works of other artists through painting and diary texts, transfers them into collages and comments on them, reworks and alienates them: as a process of self-editing in which fiction ultimately outgrows and challenges what is actually experienced.

Nadja Abt (*1984, lives in Berlin) studied literature, art history and fine arts in Berlin and Buenos Aires. Her works have been part of exhibitions internationally, including at HKW Berlin, Casa Triângulo São Paulo, Kunsthalle Freeport Porto, and Hamburger Bahnhof Berlin.
