Two NICA artists are teaming up to present an evening as part of the NICA live series, featuring musicians from the Cologne scene. Jorik Bergman, flutist and composer, has a particular fondness for large ensembles and is equally at home in musical exuberance as she is in minimalism. Saxophonist and composer Jonas Engel is known for his extended playing techniques and prepared instruments, and moves effortlessly between acoustic and electronic soundscapes.
Kirsan Ojsemble is the name of the project initiated specifically for this evening. The participants know each other from various collaborations and are well connected. Building on their shared musical journey, they are now venturing into uncharted territory, bringing their respective musical languages together in this form for the first time. The outcome is deliberately left open—an evening shaped by the moment and by mutual listening.
