In their live report "Northwards", Sandra Butscheike and Steffen Mender talk about their exciting and unforgettable honeymoon in the saddle of a bicycle.
After 22 years of wild marriage, the two got married in May 2022 - on bicycles! Just 4 days after their wedding, they got on these very bikes to cycle from their hometown of Waltershausen to the North Cape and back again.

With pure muscle power and over 70 kg of luggage, the couple cycled 6,700 kilometers through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway. The 4-month tour took them through mountains, spectacular coastlines, meadows and fields, over white sandy beaches, through dunes, forests and beautiful towns.

The photographers and filmmakers marveled at magnificent landscapes and dreamlike sunrises and sunsets. They were able to observe wild animals at close range and had many interesting and warm encounters along the way. However, the globetrotters also often had to battle extreme headwinds, cold, wet conditions, trillions of mosquitoes and steep climbs.
So it wasn't always rosy on the road, but that's exactly what a trip like this is all about.

With entertaining anecdotes, impressive pictures, videos and drone footage, the photojournalists take their viewers on a spectacular journey through the far north. As always, there are also valuable travel tips and inspiration for your own tours through Germany and Scandinavia.
