ODD OKKODO & OGOYA NENGO

Ten years ago, Ogoya Nengo from Kenya toured Europe and the KIT Café with her group for the first time. The singer was discovered at the time by Sven Kacirek, drummer, percussionist and producer. Together with the African musician and singer Olith Ratego, Sven Kacirek founded the duo Odd Okoddo, a powerful mix of African music and electronic rhythms. The two will be touring together with the now 83-year-old Ogoya Nengo.

Ogoya's vocals are supported by Odd Okoddo with rhythmic patterns that, in their transparency and clarity, are more reminiscent of electronic music than common notions of African drum music. Together, the trio presents the new album "Palagoma". Old roots sounds combined with modern production technologies, music that inevitably makes the audience dance and sometimes sing along, carried by the presence of two captivating singers.
