As a result of the state elections in the eastern German states, there is a risk of major political upheaval in September 2026, not least for the culture of remembrance. But democracy is also under pressure in western Germany. In his new discussion series, Sven Lehmann, Member of the German Bundestag (Chair of the Bundestag’s Culture Committee), speaks with Dr. Kai Langer (Saxony-Anhalt Memorial Sites Foundation) and Dr. Henning Borggräfe (NS-DOK) about the importance of the culture of remembrance in addressing right-wing extremism and current democratic challenges.
