In the organizer's words:
The performance one million ways to try and stop the rain was created as a touchdown dance piece by Angus Balbernie, who performs on stage together with blind dancer Stuart Jackson. Angus and Stuart speak of darkness and light, of silence and noise, of their dreams and sometimes of owls. The performance is an improvised experiment and poses questions on the themes of "otherness" and "growing older".
On Saturday, September 21, there will be a practical introduction with Katy Dymoke at 5 pm.
It will explore fundamental principles that enable visually impaired and sighted dancers to work together - ways of being comfortable, dialoguing, exploring with the shared senses of touch, movement and deep listening, creating movement and ultimately dancing.
At 6 pm, everyone is invited to a panel discussion on the topic of Dance, Touch and Disability - Perspectives on Inclusion in Cultural Work.
Moderator: Rolf Emmerich | Guests: Katy Dymoke, Gitta Roser, Sabine Kuxdorf, Angus Balbernie
Touchdown Dance (UK) is unique for its inclusive approach and the legacy of Steve Paxton and Anne Kilcoyne.
