Open Lab Abend: Wenn das Internet ausfällt – was verbindet uns dann noch? — Wie ein Netzwerk im All unsere Kommunikation sichern und neu denken könnte
In the organizer's words:
Where exactly is the Internet? A large part of our global communication takes place via an infrastructure that we hardly notice in our daily lives—through data centers, networks, and cables that stretch across countries and along the ocean floor. But what happens when these connections fail?
At the Open Lab evening, we’ll look up at the sky together with Rivada Space Networks. The company is developing a satellite-based network and, in doing so, rethinking global connectivity. What role could such infrastructure in space play in the future?
After a brief introduction, it’s your turn. Working in small teams, you’ll develop your own future scenarios. What happens when existing infrastructure stops working? What might a future look like in which data travels new paths through space? And what does it take to ensure that communication remains stable and secure even during crises?
We’ll then present and discuss the resulting scenarios together.
An evening for brainstorming, designing, and discussing the infrastructure that connects our world—and what it might look like in the future.
What is an Open Lab evening?
Every Thursday, things get creative at the Lab. You’ll learn methods like Design Thinking and Future Storytelling, try out 3D printers and laser cutters, and get a behind-the-scenes look at Lab projects. There’s something new every week.
Workshop Facilitators
Rivada Space Networks offers insights into the concept of a satellite-based network and the future of global connectivity. Petra Ehlers and Justin Roth, founders of the in_vis Academy, will lead the evening and guide participants as they develop their own future scenarios.
