Oren Ambarchi pres. Cooked (Album Launch / Listening Session)

silent green presents

Oren Ambarchi’s new album,*Cooked*, will be released on September 25 via Drag City.

We are pleased to present an exclusive listening session and album release event at the Betonhalle on Thursday, September 24. The evening will also feature a conversation with Ambarchi and music critic Peter Margasak about the background and creation of the album, as well as a screening of the film*Sleight Of Hand*, directed by Maximilien Luc Proctor.

“Anyone who has delved deeper into Oren Ambarchi’s three-digit discography knows that, alongside hypnotic minimalism, strands of nonconformist and joyfully idiosyncratic exploration are deeply rooted within it. *Cooked*marks a milestone in Oren Ambarchi’s body of work and brings this delightfully eccentric attitude to the forefront of his most prominent solo work to date. In the finest Ambarchi tradition of carefully constructed all-star studio jams—which reachednewheights with*Shebang*, his2022 debut released on Drag City—*Cooked*brings together musicians from Australia, Germany, Japan, and Sweden. Together, they create two epics—each filling one side of the record—that have your foot tapping incessantly while your mind is still trying to make sense of what you’re hearing.

It’s definitelyCookedbut notovercooked. Like 10cc in their prime, the album uses sophisticated studio techniques to layer a dizzying array of elements on top of one another, yet remains open, spontaneous, and intuitive. Underlying it all is an insatiable love for music, where anything is possible. A bold claim—but*Cooked*could very well be the wildest ride Oren Ambarchi has taken us on so far."
