ORPHEUS - Oper

A sold-out house and an enthusiastic audience - after its success in the summer, Munich's smallest opera house in the Pasinger Fabrik is reviving its reinterpretation of the Orpheus saga:

Inspired by three milestones in music history - Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice and Offenbach's Orphée aux enfers - musical director and idea generator Andreas P. Heinzmann, director Melanie Renz and lyricist Paul Wiborny realized their connection in one piece. From December 15 to January 14, the musical drama can be experienced again in the Wagenhaller of the Pasinger Fabrik. Eight singers and orchestra present the story in a "new, very coherent and poetic interpretation of the myth" (SZ). The love of the protagonists is deep, embedded in bizarre episodes and witty dialogs in the world of the gods. The stage design by Claudia Weinhart and the costumes by Johannes Geitl reflect the universality of the material and provide aesthetic extravagance. In its embrace of three centuries of opera history, the new Orpheus thus becomes a symbol for the entire opera house: opera for all emotions for 25 years.
