In the organizer's words:
About the pieces:

The National Company of Malta, which caused a sensation in 2025, is returning to Bremen.
The guest performance *NÁCAR* explores the desire to connect with our spirits: those we have captured in images, those who live on within us, and those who, though invisible, nevertheless always accompany us. In this powerful new production by Paloma Muñoz, floating figures appear frozen in time, breathing and fading away even as they are being watched. Their bodies, exposed to our gaze, speak to us and urge one another to remain present and to be remembered. NÁCAR invites us to make our bodies available to the memories of others—bodies become vessels of presence, beauty, and shared echoes.
On this evening, Of Curious Nature will present the choreography *Arcadia* from its repertoire, created by Matthew William Robinson, the current artistic director of the Zfin Malta company. With the title Arcadia, choreographer Matthew William Robinson refers to a place of longing that many strive for, yet whose fulfillment remains out of reach.
The stage evokes a space reminiscent of the edge of a sports field. Athletic bodies move in glaring, artificial light as if on a runway. All seem absorbed in their own self-expression. And although they are in the same place, they have little to do with one another; rather, they serve as a social backdrop for one another. A strange emptiness spreads.
With OCN, Robinson examines the artificially generated images of perfection in the digital present—the ideals of today that drive us. In this way, he links the longing for Arcadia with the human, narcissistic circling around one’s own image—staged and multiplied a thousandfold on social media—and makes the highly polished visual world appear as a lifeless shell.
About the Choreographers:
Spanish choreographer Paloma Muñoz has established herself as a clear, uncompromising voice in the international contemporary dance scene. Her award-winning work *La Quijá* is currently touring Europe. As a dancer, Paloma Muñoz has worked with Ramón Oller and at Thomas Noone Dance in Spain and Norrdans in Sweden. In 2016, she founded her own company, Siberia, with the piece *La Piel Vacía*, which received awards at various choreography competitions and platforms. This was followed by productions for the Grec Festival in Barcelona, the Quinzena Metropolitana Festival, the Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona), and the Madrid en Danza Festival. Paloma Muñoz has served as a guest choreographer at 180º Madrid, Tanzlabor Ulm, and Tanzplattform Bern. In June 2022, Paloma was awarded the Bern Dance Prize for her choreography “La Piel Vacía” as part of Tanzplattform Bern. In Germany, she has already choreographed for dance companies in Münster and Bielefeld.
Matthew William Robinson (UK) has been the artistic director of ZfinMalta, the National Dance Company, since 2024 and works internationally in a variety of contexts as a dancer, choreographer, rehearsal director, and curator. His choreographic works—often realized in transdisciplinary contexts—and curated programs have been presented at venues and festivals throughout Europe and beyond. For many years, Robinson was an integral part of the Scottish Dance Theatre as a dancer and rehearsal director, where he performed works by a range of international choreographers. In 2016, he became artistic director of VERVE, where he built the ensemble’s reputation for bold commissioned works. From 2021 to 2024, Robinson served as artistic director of the National Dance Company Wales, positioning it at the forefront of contemporary dance in the United Kingdom. His contemporary movement language translates contradictions and complex emotions into highly physical choreographic compositions. For the NDCW, Matthew collaborated with Marcos Morau, Melanie Lane, Andrea Costanzo Martini, Sarah Golding / Yukiko Masui, Osian Meilir, John-William Watson, and Boram Kim, among others. Robinson is a graduate of the London Contemporary Dance School.
