Paper / Elements Kunst aus Papier und die vier Elemente

The exhibition is dedicated to the four elements of fire, water, earth and air and at the same time focuses on the "Art of Paper" collection. The four elements have fascinated mankind since ancient times and are central themes in art and philosophy. Since the 1960s, artists have once again explored the elements, whether in the form of experimental investigations into art forms and materials or approaches to the pictorial representation of the elements.

The collection contains a large number of works that deal with the four elements in different ways - from direct references and associative interpretations to the results of reactions on the paper itself.

The exhibition features works by around 40 artists from the Kunst aus Papier collection, including Bernard Aubertin, Mary Bauermeister, John Cage, Tina Haase, Oskar Holweck, Jenny Holzer, Wolfgang Mally, Robert Rauschenberg, Takako Saito, Regine Schumann, Yoko Terauchi, Günther Uecker and Timm Ulrichs.
