For personal reasons, our artistic director Nico Köhs is unfortunately unable to conduct today's concert on June 27.

We are very pleased that we have been able to win Benedict Nagel for this concert, who will take over the direction of the current program after a short handover rehearsal.

Nico Köhs will conduct the second concert in Knechtsteden Monastery on June 28.

In the face of rising authoritarian forces, the dismantling of constitutional states, the weakening of international cooperation and the simultaneous military build-up on all sides, and subliminally in the ever-advancing climate change, we are experiencing a crisis of hope for better times.

The reactions to this are manifold: they range between fatalistic gloom, optimistic cynicism and an overburdened retreat into (privileged) private life, which we already have enough to deal with.

With this program for choir & organ as well as selected songs for voice & piano, we want to take up these human reactions and examine how music has always helped people to overcome crises and find each other. Perhaps we will find a new "uncomfortable" hope in the music of Schubert, Mendelssohn and Brahms in this way: cheerfulness in the face of the crises of our time.
