The industrialization process in the 19th century led to the creation of the Ruhr area and the Upper Silesian conurbation. Both regions initially developed under similar political and economic conditions. The structural change in the Ruhr region, particularly in industrial tourism, often served as a model for Silesia. The revitalization process of the former mining facilities into the Coal Mining Museum in Hindenburg/Zabrze, which lasted over ten years, created a huge complex with more than ten kilometers of underground routes. In a lecture, the museum's research assistant explains how cross-generational projects are preserving the heritage and introducing a new generation to it. "Underground - Across Generations" is the motto of her presentation.
