Pavel “Pasha” Talankin is a teacher and videographer at a school in Karabash, an industrial city in the Urals. With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, everyday school life changes fundamentally. Patriotic lessons, flag ceremonies, and military rituals have become part of the routine. Pasha is tasked with documenting these developments on camera for the authorities. While filming the official footage, he also secretly records how the school is gradually transforming into an instrument of state propaganda. Over the course of two years, Pasha follows the transformation of daily school life, documenting how children and teenagers are being prepared for war and obedience, and how life at the school is changing under the regime’s influence.
