Psychic Liberation Night: Reece Cox + Glyn Maier

Psychic Liberation (PL) is a label founded in 2013, originally run by Miguel Alvariño under the title Primitive Languages as a cassette and record store project in New York City. Since 2019, it has been run solo by Nick Klein under the name Psychic Liberation from the EU.

The concert series of the same name takes place in the Kuppelhalle with changing guests.

Reece Cox presents a reading with musical accompaniment from an ongoing series of text-based works entitled Applications or The Disciplinary Arts. These revolve around themes of art production, institutional language and protocols, and contemporary bodily experience - in narrative and non-narrative texts that employ critique, body horror, humor and irony.

Reece Cox is a Berlin-based artist, musician and writer. In recent years he has presented performances with his ongoing project Poser at Sara's (New York), KW and the Volksbühne's Roter Salon as well as at Galerie Gisela Capitain. In addition, Cox has presented solo and collaborative projects in performances and exhibitions at CCA (Berlin), Magenta Plains (New York), Neue Galerie Gladbeck (Gladbeck), House (Berlin), September Sessions (Stockholm), Shahin Zarinbal (Berlin), Sara's (New York) and other venues.

Glyn Maier is a North Carolina-based sound artist and field recordist.

Non-urban outdoor spaces are central to Maier's artistic practice. With a formal education in physics and composition, Maier focuses on natural objects, landscapes and their social history. These form the basis of his recordings, which are then transformed into ambient electronic works - characterized by organic rhythms and complex timbres. Although Maier's abstract synthesis work is strongly influenced by sound design, the focus is always on the interplay between machine and environment as acting actors.

Another component of his sound practice is enmossed, the label he founded in 2017. enmossed is dedicated to contemporary sound art - all profits are donated to charities chosen by the artists involved. The sound carriers (cassettes and records) are handmade from recycled materials. The catalog programme is distributed internationally, including via Industrial Coast (UK), Rope Editions (Korea) and Tobira Records (Japan).
