Once again this year, there will be a large reception together with the city of Heidelberg to mark the opening of the festival. The evening will be hosted by queer icon Lilo Wanders. Mayor Stefanie Jansen and the Federal Government Commissioner for the Acceptance of Sexual and Gender Diversity, Sophie Koch, will give welcoming speeches.
This year's festival exhibition will also be presented to the public for the first time at the opening. It is entitled "Holding Each Other - Community Care in Times of Crises" and brings together photographic positions that deal with care and mutual support within queer communities. The Open Call received over 200 submissions from all over the world. Against the backdrop of an increasingly tense social climate, the selected works focus on lived solidarity - and thus also shape the content of the entire festival. The exhibition can be seen during the festival period as a poster campaign in public spaces, in the Karlstorbahnhof, in the Marstallcafé, in the new foyer of the PH Heidelberg and digitally on the festival website.
We were completely overwhelmed by the number of pre-registrations. Unfortunately, we are therefore unable to accept any more registrations for the opening reception. However, we would be delighted if you could come and celebrate with us at the opening party after the reception. And of course we hope to see you at the many festival events in the coming days and weeks!
