Chopin's legacy
No other composer is more closely associated with the mazurka than Frédéric Chopin. He wrote his first mazurka at the age of 15, and almost 60 more were to follow in the course of his life. In them, Chopin expressed his sense of home and his national pride, his longing for Poland and his family. At the same time, he transferred dance into art music. Rafał Blechacz, winner of the 2005 Chopin Competition, is the best possible interpreter of this repertoire for the conclusion of "Pianomania".
