Ramón Valle Trio feat. Maite Hontelé
In the organizer's words:
An ode to musical friendship, improvisation, and Cuban music: Dutch trumpeter Maite Hontelé and Cuban pianist Ramón Valle share a musical friendship that sounds like a journey to the heart of Havana: colorful, full of improvisation, and brimming with mutual trust.
Hontelé, a Cubadisco Award winner and Latin Grammy nominee, enchants with a warm tone reminiscent of Miles Davis and Chet Baker. Valle is considered one of the most original pianists on the Afro-Cuban jazz scene; he has collaborated with Roy Hargrove, Marcus Miller, and Chucho Valdés.
The music is a lively dialogue: serious and playful, structured and spontaneous—what Valle calls “levitando”: living in the moment, playing with an open heart.
