At the heart of Astrid Lindgren’s exciting and heartwarming story is an orphaned boy who embarks on wild adventures with a fun-loving vagabond. Skillfully, sensitively, and entertainingly directed by Olle Hellbom.

Little Rasmus hopes in vain to finally be adopted by kind, childless parents. Time and again, cute girls with curly hair are chosen instead. So the blond-haired boy sneaks out of the orphanage at night and sets out on his own to find suitable parents. On his journey, he meets the friendly vagabond Paradies-Oskar. From then on, the two are inseparable. Rasmus and Oskar have to survive many dangerous adventures before their path leads them back to Oskar’s dear wife, Martina. Here, Rasmus finally finds what he’s always wanted: a real home—a modest one, to be sure, but one where there’s always joy.
