The most authentic The Police and Sting tribute band in the world for over 30 YEARS!
When Reggatta de Blanc formed as THE POLICE tribute band in 1988, nobody could have guessed that there was someone in the world whose voice not only resembled that of Police frontman Sting, but was almost identical. "Pure, but beautiful coincidence," thought Reggatta singer Michael Griese at his first rehearsal with his boys in April '88. For Griese, this is still a special, precious gift to this day.
In the meantime, several years have passed, over 1,500 concerts have been played in all clubs and open air venues in Germany and abroad and everything that Sting's pen has put on paper over the last 40 years has been conjured up on stage. It should not be forgotten that the former teacher from the north of England continued as a soloist after his time with The Police from 1985 and released countless hits. There are few artists in this world who have such a comparable success story and have given the world so many hits.
The Police's success story began in 1978 with the classic "Roxanne", followed by, to name but a few, "So lonely" and "Message in a bottle" as well as "Don't stand so close to me" or "Every little thing she does is magic" and culminated in the trio's last album with Sting's most successful work "Every breath you take". (Even today, Mr. Sumner, as Sting is known in real life, still receives five-figure monthly payments into his account from the royalties of this one song for radio plays alone).
Reggatta de Blanc did everything right when they formed their The Police tribute band at a very young age in the spring of 1988. And here the emphasis should be on TRIBUTEBAND, because for 17 years the sound, performance and stage show of what was once the most successful rock trio of the 80s was fine-tuned and almost perfected until, partly due to the line-up change in the band, they dared to tackle the big hits from Sting's solo period (which continues to this day): "Set them free", "Englishman in New York", "Fragile", "Fields of Gold", "Desert Rose", "Can't stop thinking about you" and "Don't make me wait", are just a few that the multiple Grammy winner composed after his Police days and released over the course of 12 studio and 4 live albums.
Reggatta gained even more musical quality with the addition of a new guitarist(Tom Quast) and drummer(Jonas Wilms). The time had now come to venture into the great master's solo repertoire. The band was therefore expanded even further - Markus Wentz (keybaords), Wim Wollner (saxophone) and Dimitry Tyelmanov (trumpet) have been strengthening the band for 15 years now when Sting shows are conjured up on stage. Together with experienced backing singers, there are sometimes up to 8 musicians on stage - depending on the setlist that Reggatta de Blanc bring with them for their show.
In December 2018, Reggatta de Blanc completed their - believe it or not - 30th anniversary tour! More than 100 special concerts were conjured up on stage. The inexhaustible live repertoire of The Police and Sting guarantees that Reggatta's shows have never been repeated since the beginning. Every concert is different. The various live versions that are interpreted sometimes result from the legendary Rockpalast concert from 1981 or from Sting's Symphonic tour in 2010 as well as from the well-known MTV Unplugged concert (1992). You won't hear studio versions of the songs from Reggatta, Reggatta play live and 1000% close to the original - just as you know it from the concerts of The Police and Sting, mostly from the Internet. Now you can finally experienceit LIVE!
