Restaurierung im Dialog mit den Umóⁿhoⁿ

In early 2024, a damaged ceremonial pipe from the Francis La Flesche Collection of the Ethnologisches Museum was restored. In close consultation with the Umóⁿhoⁿ partners, the individual work steps of the non-risk-free treatment were discussed and carried out.

This collaborative restoration project is the result of many years of cooperation between the Humboldt Forum Foundation, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin/the Ethnologisches Museum and the Nebraska Indian Community College. This talk will provide an in-depth insight into the motivations of the Umóⁿhoⁿ partners and the perspective of the conservators involved.
